What inspires me · Winter 2026
Italy
Old stone and living green, everywhere I looked. Steps gone soft with moss, ruins the forest is taking back, and walls where somebody pressed ceramic into plaster by hand. I came home thinking about texture and patience.

Stairs the moss took back
Every step softened with moss and little green shoots pushing out of the cracks. This is exactly the feeling I'm after in a piece — stone and growth sharing the same surface, nobody winning.

Waterfall in the cold gorge
Bare branches in front, a wall of ferns and dripping green behind. Water shapes rock the same way I try to let material lead — slowly, and without arguing.

The stone arch in the woods
A hand-built arch with trees growing straight up through it. Centuries of masonry and the forest just carried on around it.

A building the forest is keeping
Empty window openings, ivy up the walls, the roof long gone. There's a color here — wet gray-green stone — that I keep reaching for.

Between two walls
A narrow stair between crumbling stone, opening out onto lemon groves and umbrella pines. Framing like this is why I think about how a piece is approached, not only how it looks head on.

Ceramic set into an old wall
Bright hand-cut tile donkeys on a stone disc, with green creeping through the joints around it. Someone made this by hand and let the wall keep growing over it. That's the balance I want.

Plates pressed into the plaster
A whole facade studded with ceramic plates and stones, lit up at night. Nothing about it is machine-made, and you can feel that from across the street.

Sunrise over the water
Orange along the ridgeline, the sea going silver underneath. I don't build the view, but I do build the way it feels to stand there for a minute.

The same sunrise, through iron
An arched window with old ironwork in front of that same light. Negative space, framing, a little weight in the foreground — I use all three.

Tell me about the trail, the trip or the room. I'll build toward that feeling with materials I've gathered myself.
