Hemp cord, stone, ferns, ceramics, sea urchin spine and more
Nothing here comes from a craft aisle. Every element is gathered, preserved and chosen one at a time — a branch with the right bend, a stone with the right weight, a spine the ocean already shaped. That's why no two pieces can match: the materials won't repeat themselves.
Sea urchin spine, raw stone, hemp cord
A spine the ocean shaped, stones cradled in leather, hung on hemp. Each one hangs a little differently — that's the point.
Manzanita branch and rose of Jericho

Sea urchin spine spiral — in progress
Hand-cut sea urchin spines set alongside intact ones, laid in a spiral with preserved moss. This one is still on my bench — many pieces live here for weeks before they're finished.
Driftwood and stone detail
Weathered driftwood, a red stone knotted into hemp leather cord — the joins are tied by hand, not glued.
Rose of Jericho, fern and herbs
A rose of Jericho, a single fern frond, and preserved herbs tied with hemp. Each one is gathered and chosen for its shape before it ever meets a piece.
Stoneware, moss, lichen and mushroom
A speckled stoneware dish, a clump of preserved moss, a curl of lichen and two small mushrooms. Stoneware is chosen for its weight and quiet glaze; the rest is chosen one piece at a time.
Seed pods and found forms
I found these seed pods in Mexico. Seed pods, preserved herbs, lichen-covered twigs, mushrooms, shells: if nature shaped it and it catches my eye, it can end up in a piece.
