The firm asked for something for a room used almost entirely for heavy litigation — the highest-stress space in the building. We assessed the room first: where people sit, where their eyes land when a conversation gets hard, how much light reaches the far wall.

The piece was built over several weeks around a single grapewood limb and placed in direct line of sight from the seats that take the most pressure. Nobody was told to look at it. They looked at it anyway, and their bodies visibly relaxed while they did.

That is the whole argument for this work in a commercial space: it isn't decoration that happens to be green, and it isn't a plant someone has to keep alive. It's a piece designed to do something to a room.
