How to Commission Your Own Piece of Functional Nature Art
It starts with your day, not with the art.
A custom piece isn't just picking something beautiful. It's putting intention into your daily life. We aren't finding a piece to fit your space — we're designing one with you that belongs there.
Step 1 — Identify a ritual
This begins with you, not with the art. Do you burn incense? Diffuse oils? Have jewelry with nowhere good to sit? Dry herbs, or collect found objects? Naming one specific ritual gives the piece its foundation. We're not inventing a need — we're noticing one you already have and turning it into something worth using.
Step 2 — Share your vision
Send photos of the area where the piece will live, plus any style preferences. That tells me your vibe. I'll come back with options — usually three to start — and if none of them land, we keep going. Love shells? We'll talk about how to work them in.
- Vessel options. It isn't only driftwood. It's whatever vessel fits your vision — concrete, ceramic, glass, stone, a vintage find. I'll send what I think would be beautiful in your space, always shaped by your ideas.
- Mock-ups. I'll drop potential designs into the photos you sent so you can see the piece in your own room before anything is final. Then we talk: how does this feel, what would you change, do you want to go somewhere completely different?
Step 3 — Co-create the final piece
You won't just see the finished piece — you'll watch it happen. I send progress photos as it comes together, so if a shell sits wrong, it's an easy fix. Your voice guides the build the whole way through.

Common questions
How do I know which ritual to build around?
Watch your own habits for a few days. Where do your keys land? When do you light a candle? What small collection has no home yet? A recurring action or a gap in the space is the perfect starting point.
What photos should I send?
Clear shots of the spot where the piece will live, including nearby furniture and decor, plus anything that inspires you — a color palette, a landscape, a piece you already love.
What if I change my mind partway through?
That's expected. Progress photos come to you as the piece is built, so a shell placement or an arrangement can be adjusted while it's still easy to change.
